A&T Talks :: How to Design Logo Identities That Last

Topic: How to Design Logo Identities That Last

Guest: Michael Shumate

Synopsis: A&T Talks — Practical advice and insight for your creative journey in 30 minutes or less.

In this A&T Talks episode, designer, teacher, and author, Michael Shumate joins us to talk about the concepts in his new book Logo Design Theory: How Branding Design Really Works. He taught graphic design and illustration for twenty-five years and is now generously sharing his discoveries on the principles of logo design with the world. Michael has designed identities in all areas of branding: commercial, government, institutional, product and retail.

While teaching Branding Design he taught approximately 900 students and graded over 2700 branding projects. That teaching experience, in addition to his professional work, helped him discover fundamental principles of identity design, the core principles of logo design, that remain true, regardless of current fads or fashions. Today, he continues his teaching tradition via his Youtube channel where he is creating what is arguably a masterclass on how to design logos that adhere to the principles of design and can stand the test of time.
